AFTER MORE THAN 10 YEARS OF WRITING JAMB, GOD FINALLY DID IT!!! ππ©Ί❤️ I don’t even know whether to cry, scream, dance, or just lie on the floor and thank God. πππ
Because HOW DO I EXPLAIN THIS FEELING? π❤️ I HAVE FINALLY BEEN OFFERED ADMISSION TO STUDY MEDICINE AND SURGERY!!! π©Ίππ Yes, you read that correctly!
After more than a decade of trying, failing, crying, praying, starting over, and refusing to give up, I am finally going to study the course I have dreamed of studying all my life. But please, allow me to tell you a little story. π₯Ή❤️
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to become a medical doctor, helping trying to conceive parents π₯° Not because someone pushed me into it. Not because I wanted the title. But because somewhere deep inside me, I have always known that medicine is where my heart belongs.
Unfortunately, life had other plans. I wrote JAMB again and again, but Medicine and Surgery kept slipping through my fingers.I was offered admission to study Microbiology on my first attempt
I didn’t want it. But my parents encouraged me to accept it, hoping I could switch to Medicine after my first year. And I believed them. I entered university and gave my studies everything I had. I even made a first-class result in my first year!
I thought that would be my opportunity to finally switch to Medicine. But that opportunity never came. π So I continued with Microbiology, graduated with flying colours, and tried to convince myself to move on.
But how do you move on from a dream that has refused to leave your heart? π I tried, guys. GOD KNOWS I TRIED!.I worked different jobs. I explored different opportunities. I even rose to leadership positions in the NGO sector. But no matter how much I achieved, something was always missing.
I was earning money, but I wasn’t fulfilled.I was making progress, but deep down, I knew I wasn’t where I wanted to be. My heart was still in Medicine. π©Ί❤️ Then came one of the biggest decisions of my life.
I walked away from a job that was paying me almost ₦500,000 in 2024 because I wanted to give this dream another chance. ( just to concentrate in my jamb preparation). Imagine leaving that kind of salary in this Nigerian economy! π People might not understand it, but I knew what I was fighting for.
I went back to my books. I studied. I wrote JAMB. I performed excellently. And guess what? I STILL DIDN’T GET THE ADMISSION! ππ That one broke me. Imagine sacrificing so much, doing everything you believed was right, and still watching your dream slip away.
But something inside me refused to surrender. So when 2026 came, I made up my mind..THIS DREAM MUST NOT DIE IN MY HANDS! I disconnected from almost everything. I deleted my Facebook and all my social media and work accounts I withdrew from distractions. I sacrificed my comfort. It was just ME, MY BOOKS, AND MY GOD! ππ
I studied like my entire future depended on it. I prayed like someone who knew that only God could carry her through. There were nights I barely slept. Days I was exhausted. Moments I was afraid. But I kept going. Because I had already come too far to give up.
And today…TODAY, MY PEOPLE!!! ππππ THE SAME GIRL WHO SPENT OVER 10 YEARS CHASING MEDICINE HAS FINALLY BEEN ADMITTED TO STUDY MEDICINE AND SURGERY AT ENUGU STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (ESUT)!!! π©Ί❤️π
And do you know what makes this even more emotional? IT IS THE SAME UNIVERSITY WHERE I STUDIED MICROBIOLOGY! πππ The same institution where I once hoped and prayed for an opportunity to switch to Medicine.
The same place where that dream seemed impossible.God has brought me back there to finally pursue it! AHHHHHHH!!! GOD!!! πππ I don’t know how to explain this kind of joy!
OCTOBER 15, 2026, WILL FOREVER BE SPECIAL TO ME! ❤️ The date my admission was approved. The date another chapter of my life officially began. And if there is one thing this journey has taught me, it is this: YOUR DREAM DOES NOT HAVE AN EXPIRY DATE!
I don’t know who needs to hear this today.
Maybe you’ve been trying to gain admission for years. Maybe you’ve written JAMB more times than you can count. Maybe you’ve watched your friends graduate, get married, build careers, and move ahead while you feel stuck.
Maybe you’ve started believing that you’re too old to begin again. PLEASE, LISTEN TO ME! YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD TO START AGAIN! You are not a failure because your journey is taking longer. You are not behind simply because someone else arrived before you. And you don’t have to bury your dreams because life didn’t work out the first time.
Look at me! After getting a degree… After working different jobs…After earning a good salary… After more than a decade of disappointments… I AM STARTING AGAIN AS A FIRST-YEAR MEDICAL STUDENT! ππ©Ί❤️
And I am not ashamed! I AM PROUD OF MYSELF! Proud of the woman who refused to settle. Proud of the woman who kept believing. Proud of the woman who cried but still showed up. Proud of the woman who chose purpose even when it required sacrifice.
And above everything, I AM GRATEFUL TO GOD! π❤️ Because this admission is not the end of my journey. It is the beginning of another demanding six years. I know medical school will not be easy. But I am ready to learn, to grow, to work hard, and to become the doctor I have always dreamed of becoming.
By God’s grace, one day, I will look back at this moment as part of the journey that prepared me to serve humanity through medicine. I DIDN’T GIVE UP ON MY DREAM, AND BY GOD’S GRACE, MY DREAM DIDN’T DIE! π❤️
To everyone who has ever prayed for me, encouraged me, believed in me, or supported me in one way or another, THANK YOU! ❤️ And to the God who carried me through every disappointment… FATHER, THIS ONE IS PERSONAL! ππ may not understand why the journey took this long, but I am grateful that I am finally here.
