Student’s Visa Rejected For Not Knowing Number Of Trees On University Campus

 It has come to light that an overseas student’s visa application was rejected by the United Kingdom Home Office because the applicant was unable to describe the number of trees on a university campus.

Vice-Chancellor Professor James Alexander Miller of the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has revealed that an international applicant was denied a visa because they could not state the number of trees on the UWS campus.

Professor Miller’s revelation was published Monday 02 November 2026 in an exclusive report by The i Paper, spotlighting ridiculous student visa rejections amidst an ongoing UK Home Office immigration crackdown.

According to the immigration caseworkers, the applicant in question should have known the number of trees on the UWS campus because because “the university’s marketing materials prominently featured greenery.”

This is by no means an isolated instance. Some other reported bizarre reasons for rejected student visas include:

* Applicant rejected for not applying to Canada after mentioning they had considered it.

* Applicant rejected after interviewer claimed they gave incorrect founding year for their prospective university—only for it to turn out later that the student’s answer was actually correct.

* Applicant rejected because they stated that they did not apply to Canada due to the cold weather, with the caseworker claiming “some parts of Canada are not that cold.”

* Applicant denied for citing “international rankings” as a reason for choosing a particular university.

* Caseworker confusing Norwich with Norfolk while reviewing an application for the University of East Anglia.

* Applicant rejected for not knowing the number of bus stops near the campus.

* etc

What do you think about this? Are these reasonable causes for rejection of visa applications, or are they “over the top”? Let us know in the comments!
