Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has identified corruption, education challenges and rising living costs as major problems confronting Nigeria.
Obi stated this on Tuesday during a town hall meeting in Lokoja, Kogi State, as part of his nationwide consultations.
He lamented that Nigeria still has the highest number of out-of-school children globally, despite the establishment of the historic Holy Trinity Primary School in Lokoja in 1865.
Obi also identified corruption as a major obstacle to national development, stressing the need to invest in education, healthcare, agriculture and local production to reduce poverty.
He further highlighted Kogi State's tourism potential and called attention to the need to preserve historical sites, including the Iron of Liberty monument.
The NDC presidential candidate also visited Kpata Market, where traders complained about rising prices of goods and declining patronage due to reduced consumer purchasing power.
