So this video from Avu Junction in Owerri West, Imo State is making the rounds and it’s pure political heat.
Hon. Paschal Okoro, popularly known as Ajangwo, the APC councillor representing Avu/Oforola Ward 1 and Chief Whip of the Owerri West Legislative Council, was caught on camera tearing down opposition party banners and boldly declaring that “no other political party should operate in Avu.” The blue-and-white banners are scattered all over the ground while he stands there gesturing, fully in his element, with a few people watching and some even helping with the destruction.
It’s the kind of moment that instantly goes viral because it captures that raw, unfiltered local politics vibe where some politicians still act like their area is personal territory. One man, one ward, one loud statement that no other party is welcome.
Nigerians online are already reacting the usual way: some are shaking their heads, others are saying this is exactly why people lose faith in the system, and a few are just laughing at how bold (and shortsighted) the whole thing looks on camera. Whether it backfires or not, the video has already done its job. It’s out there, and Avu just became the latest name on the political gist list.
