Osinachi Ohale has called time on her Super Falcons career after 16 years representing Nigeria.
The defender leaves international football with 86 caps, appearances at four FIFA Women’s World Cups and seven Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. She won the African title five times, in 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024.
One of her most memorable World Cup moments came against Australia in 2023, when she scored as Nigeria stunned the co-hosts 3-2. FIFA named her Player of the Match.
Ohale said she was leaving with gratitude and no regrets, telling supporters that although the jersey would leave her shoulders, it would never leave her heart.
Sixteen years is a long time in international football, particularly for a defender competing across several generations of a national team.
