Muhammad Buhari Dalhatu Resigns As Pantami's Aide, Backs Gwamna

 By Ibrahim Sani Shawai

The governorship aspiration of Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, has received another boost following the resignation of Hon. Muhammad Buhari Dalhatu, Special Adviser to Professor Isa Ali Pantami on Youth Leadership and Community Engagement.

Dalhatu subsequently declared his support for Gwamna and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dalhatu Resigns, Backs Gwamna

In a statement issued on Saturday, August 8, 2026, Dalhatu formally announced his resignation from his position as an adviser to Pantami and reaffirmed his commitment to the ruling APC.

He also declared his support for Gwamna's governorship ambition and the success of the APC at all levels in the 2027 elections.

Gwamna's camp described the development as significant, particularly because of the position previously held by Dalhatu within Pantami's political structure.

More Pantami Associates Align With Gwamna

The statement said Dalhatu's decision adds to what it described as a growing list of individuals who previously worked closely with Professor Pantami but have since taken a different political direction.

Those mentioned include Affan Buba Abuya, Pantami's former Personal Assistant; Sunusin Gombe, popularly known as Ameer, who reportedly coordinated the Pantamiyya political structure; and Dahiru Saidu Nafada, described as a close ally and influential figure in Pantami's political journey.

According to the statement, Nafada's alignment with Gwamna is particularly significant because of his longstanding relationship with Pantami and his influence within the political circles associated with the former minister.

Gwamna Camp Highlights Changing  Political Dynamics

The campaign statement argued that the series of political movements indicates a changing political dynamic in Gombe State as the 2027 governorship election approaches.

It said the decisions by individuals who previously occupied strategic positions within Pantami's political structure to support Gwamna reflect what the campaign described as growing confidence in the APC candidate's governorship aspiration.

“These political decisions reflect the changing political dynamics in Gombe State and the growing confidence in the direction of the APC, as the state approaches another defining political season,” the statement said.

Gwamna Welcomes New Supporter

Gwamna welcomed Dalhatu's decision and commended him for remaining committed to the APC.

The APC candidate said the future of Gombe State should be built around unity, competence, experience and continuity, while stressing the need to consolidate the achievements recorded under the administration of  Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He expressed confidence that continued political cooperation within the APC would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The latest development comes as political activities intensify across Gombe State ahead of the 2027 governorship contest, with political parties and aspirants seeking to consolidate their support bases ahead of the election.

The Bureau Journal reports that the claims regarding the political significance of the resignation and the extent of support for Gwamna are based on the statement issued by his spokesperson. The statement did not include responses from Professor Isa Ali Pantami or the other individuals mentioned.
