Lady Narrates How UNTH Denied Her Sister Emergency Service till Army Forced Them

My heavily pregnant younger sister, her three year old son along side other passagers were hit by a hit and run trailer driver along Odudukoko Port Harcourt express way...

It took the intervention of the Nigerian Army Officers returning from Conference to rush them to

UNTH Ituku Ozalla. According to the officer, passers-by were busy making videos and taking pictures instead of saving lives, my was laying unconscious, her son sustained head injury and blood was gushing out, the other too was the person shouting for people to help when the Nigerian Army van passed and stopped to rush them to the hospital.

On getting to UNTH, the emergency unit refused accepting them, the Officers had to forcefully break in with their gun and boot and instructed them to commence treatment immediately.. According to the register, my sister was brought in by 11.21 am, I personally arrived the hospital around 12.45 pm .. We took over and did all the necessary tests that needed to be done for her to go in for an emergency CS to save the Mother and child..

When they did the first scan, baby was already in fetal distress, these guys kept running up and without doing anything, from one Dr to another Dr, Orthopaedic, Neurologist, AbS abi kini ko.... The Officers later left, immediately they got to know that the Officers had left, they started with their nonchalant attitude.

They asked asked to go for Pelvic scan to know if had fracture as she couldn't move her legs so everything could be corrected once she enter the theatre, time was going and pleading and shouting for them to take in and bring out baby first, they said they only have one Anastasist on duty and surgery was on going in a whole Teaching hospital, you have just one Anastasist on call ?

Moving my sister out from there wasn't an option at this point cause many private hospital would reject her in that state. We wheeled her in for the Pelvic scan, to place my sister on the scanning machine became and issue for these guys, I was the one giving them directives on how she should be placed cause she was screaming in pain. In a twinkling of an eye, both the Dr's and Potters disappeared leaving only me to place my sister back to the stretcher.

At this point, I lost it and started shouting all, to do the needful. That was when it occur to me to start calling those I know that works in UNTH. I called my Coursemate Nicholas he said he just left the hospital but coming back to see us... Immediately he came in, he started making calls too to the necessary authorities for the lack of negligence..
