If you are a Black parent with children, make sure you allow them to know your country of origin even if you were born here. A black UK MP once said, and I am paraphrasing that, “They will give a black person a job after doing more than double what a white person did, and when they see that they have been enjoying the job, they will take the job from them, paying them peanuts and leaving many of them with depression and mental health issues.”
As an Employment Lawyer, I have seen this happening to many black people, and it is even rampant now. As parents, we have a lot to do to help our children. They can’t endure the rubbish we endured. They will break down mentally. There is subtle and overt racism in the UK.
What is wrong with being black? Rest in peace, Jason Arday. 😔
