Isaac Fayose Reaffirms Support For Peter Obi After Viral Backlash

The Defiant Return: Isaac Fayose Reaffirms His Support for Peter Obi After Viral Backlash

A single viral video was all it took to throw Isaac Fayose into the center of one of Nigeria's biggest political debates.

The businessman and younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose found himself under intense criticism after a video surfaced showing him sharing a friendly moment with Seyi Tinubu, the

son of President Bola Tinubu, alongside celebrity socialite Cubana Chief Priest. In the clip, Fayose exchanged warm greetings, spoke positively about the Tinubu family, and even joined in a brief prayer.

What appeared to be a cordial meeting quickly sparked controversy.

Many Nigerians, particularly supporters of Peter Obi, interpreted the encounter as a sign that Fayose was drifting toward the ruling APC. The criticism came as a surprise to many, considering Fayose had been one of Peter Obi's most vocal supporters during the 2023 presidential election. He had publicly declared his backing, reportedly contributed financially to the campaign, and even made his hotel in Ibadan available for campaign activities.

As the video spread across social media, Obidient supporters expressed disappointment. Some accused him of betraying the movement, while others questioned whether his political allegiance had changed. The backlash became one of the most talked-about political conversations online.

Meanwhile, APC supporters welcomed the development with excitement. Many celebrated the video as proof that political divisions were softening, while others used it to mock the outrage coming from sections of the opposition.

As tensions continued to rise, respected members of the Obidient movement—including MamaPee, Justice Crack, and representatives of the Peter 4 Nigeria group—visited Isaac Fayose in an effort to hear directly from him and reduce the growing misunderstanding.

Their meeting appeared to mark a turning point.

Later that same day, Fayose released an emotional nighttime video in which he addressed the controversy personally. He disclosed that he had spoken directly with Peter Obi and made it clear that his commitment to Obi and the movement had not changed.

Reflecting on his sacrifices and contributions to the 2023 campaign, Fayose acknowledged his frustrations but insisted that he remained firmly behind Peter Obi's vision for Nigeria. His statement effectively ended speculation that he had crossed over to the APC and reassured many supporters who had questioned his loyalty.

What began as a political storm fueled by a viral video ultimately became a story of dialogue, reconciliation, and renewed commitment.

For now, Isaac Fayose has made his position unmistakably clear: despite the controversy, he says he remains in the fight alongside Peter Obi.
