A video posted by popular Niger State-based content creator and activist Prince Erena (@officialprinceerena) has gone viral on X, sparking widespread debate over rising ethnic tensions following recent deadly clashes in parts of Niger State.
In the nearly three-minute video, Prince Erena reacts passionately to the violence, describing it as a serious situation and issuing what he called a "serious warning" to Fulanis in Niger State.
> "If the Fulanis continue to clash with any tribe in Niger State, I, Prince Erena, will lead a revolution movement to chase away Fulanis in Niger State," he says in the video.
He also expressed frustration over what he described as years of peaceful coexistence between local communities and Fulanis, saying many had regarded them as brothers and fellow Muslims before accusing some of attempting to take over their ancestral lands through violent attacks.
His comments come just days after a wave of deadly attacks in Rafi Local Government Area, particularly around Tegina, Tashan Bako, and Kuwan Kasa. According to multiple reports, the violence began after the killing of a Fulani man, triggering retaliatory attacks by suspected armed herders on Kamuku farming communities. Homes were reportedly set ablaze, residents attacked with machetes, and hundreds of people displaced.
While the Nigerian police confirmed at least 18 deaths, local residents and other reports have suggested the death toll could be significantly higher, with reprisal attacks recorded on both sides.
Farmer-herder conflicts have remained a recurring challenge across Nigeria's Middle Belt and parts of the North, often driven by disputes over farmland, grazing routes, and access to natural resources.
Prince Erena has built a large following for his outspoken commentary on insecurity, banditry, and communal violence in Niger State. His latest remarks have resonated with many residents expressing anger over the killings, while also drawing concern from others who fear such rhetoric could further inflame already fragile ethnic tensions.
The video has continued to generate reactions online, highlighting the deep frustration among many residents over the recurring violence while underscoring the urgent need for authorities to address the root causes of the crisis before it escalates further.
