ADC Secretary In Gombe, Ahmed Gana Defects To APC

The governorship campaign of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has received a boost following the defection of the State Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Ahmed Gana, to the ruling party in Gombe State.

Dr. Gana, a former commissioner and prominent member of the ADC, formally resigned his

membership of the party and declared support for Dr. Gwamna ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

According to him, his decision was influenced by what he described as Dr. Gwamna’s competence, leadership capacity, commitment to good governance and vision for the development of Gombe State.

Explaining the reasons behind his defection, Dr. Gana said he believes Dr. Gwamna possesses the qualities required to continue and consolidate the developmental achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

“Dr. Jamil Gwamna has all it takes to lead Gombe State and continue from where the current administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya stopped. He is the right man for the job, which is why I decided to join the APC and work towards the actualisation of his vision,” he said.

He added that the decision was made in the interest of the people of Gombe State, stressing that public interest should take precedence over political affiliations.

Gwamna Welcomes Former ADC Secretary

Reacting to the development, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna welcomed Dr. Gana into the APC, describing the move as another indication of growing support for his governorship ambition.

Gwamna said the decision by the former ADC State Secretary reflected increasing confidence in the APC’s agenda and its plans for the future of Gombe State.

He commended Dr. Gana for what he described as courage and commitment to the development of the state, noting that his experience in public service would contribute positively to the campaign.

2027 Gombe Governorship Race Gains Momentum

Political observers believe the defection could further strengthen the APC's preparations for the 2027 governorship election as political realignments continue across Gombe State.

The Bureau Journal reports that the APC governorship campaign has continued to attract support from politicians, community leaders and stakeholders ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Dr. Gwamna reiterated that the APC remains open to individuals committed to the development, unity and prosperity of Gombe State, urging more stakeholders to join efforts aimed at advancing the state's progress.
