 NDC Begins Nationwide Congresses, Fixes National Convention for May 9 in Abuja



*NIGERIA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS HOLDS MAIDEN CONGRESSES NATIONWIDE, SETS FOR NATIONAL CONVENTION ON THE 9TH MAY, 2026*


The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) commences its maiden party Congres

ses nationwide today, 1st May, 2026.


According to the official timetable released by the party, the wards/polling units' Congresses are to hold on the 1st and 2nd of May, 2026 respectively, while the Local Government Congresses are scheduled for Monday, 4th May, 2026. Furthermore, the party has also scheduled its Zonal Congresses to hold on the 6th of May, 2026 respectively.


On the back of the ongoing Congresses, the party is also set for its maiden National Party Convention which is scheduled to hold in Abuja on the 9th of May, 2026. Preparations for the National Party Convention have been concluded by the Convention Planning Committee of the party and all is set for the big event which shall host accredited party faithfuls as well as the relevant INEC officials who are expected to monitor and observe the conduct of the Convention as mandated in the electoral Act. Security agencies have also been put on notice to ensure adequate security and safety for accredited party faithfuls, officials and other invited guests.


With the benefit of hindsight, the various State Officers across the 36 States of the Federation (the FCT inclusive) as well as the National Officers of the party are all expected to carry out their delegated responsibilities to ensure that the scheduled exercises do go on according to laid down party guidelines and official timetable as well as in line with the provisions of the constitution of the party.


On the issue of logistics, security and materials required for the National and State exercises, the party leadership has ensured that adequate arrangements and coordination have been put in place to ensure seamless, hitch-free and successful outcome across the country.
