The Solan police arrested a Nigerian man and a Kullu resident in the past 24 hours in two separate cases of drug peddling. In the first case, the Solan police had earlier recovered 9.93 grams of heroin
from two Bihar natives and a Nepalese national on April 20. While tracing the backward linkages in the case, a police team led by an SHO was deputed to visit New Delhi on April 22 for further investigation. A raid was conducted in the Dwarka area of New Delhi with the assistance of the local police on Wednesday and Eugene Chinweuba, a 42-year-old Nigerian, was arrested with 229 grams of heroin. A weighing scale was also recovered from his room.
Chinweuba was produced in a court, which sent him to the custody of the Solan police. Besides, Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, has also been invoked against him for violations, including staying beyond visa validity period, said SP, Solan, Abishek S.
In another case, a Kullu resident was arrested on Wednesday evening for selling cannabis to two Arki residents. On April 19, the special investigation unit of the Solan police had recovered 249 grams of cannabis from the possession of two Arki youths. Their interrogation, an analysis of their call details and other technical evidence led the police to a resident of the Anni area in Kullu district who had sold the contraband to the two Arki residents.
Acting on this input, the Arki police arrested the accused, who is a resident of Dhing village in Anni tehsil of Kullu district. He was produced before a court, which sent him to the custody of the Arki police.
