A 47-year-old Nigerian man is in police custody after being intercepted at the airport with dozens of drug pellets concealed internally.
Ibeh Udoka Kenneth was apprehended by officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section on 11 April during a routine control operation.
Mr Kenneth had arrived on flight KA 274 before being questioned by authorities.
Confession and Seizure
Following his interception, the suspect admitted to carrying 61 drug pellets. After the pellets were purged, the haul was confirmed to consist of:
51 pellets of cocaine
10 pellets of cannabis
In addition to the narcotics, officials seized a variety of personal items and currency. Authorities recovered 1,750 US Dollars and 20,000 Nigerian Nairas from the suspect.
Investigation Underway
Police also took possession of three mobile phones, a main piece of luggage, and a small black handbag.
Document evidence seized at the scene included the suspect’s passport and a hotel reservation.
Mr Kenneth has been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings. An investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances surrounding the smuggling attempt.
