I Was Not Legally Married To Rosy Meurer - Olakunle Churchill

I was never married to Rosy Meurer. She never stood by me — Olakunle Churchill debunks divorce claims by his ex.

Businessman Olakunle Churchill has denied widespread reports alleging that his relationship with actress Rosy Meurer has ended in divorce, insisting that the claims are false.

Churchill, in a lengthy statement shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, said reports suggesting that he and Meurer were undergoing divorce proceedings should be treated as misinformation, maintaining that no legally recognised marriage existed between them.

“The reports circulating online about a supposed divorce between myself and Roseline Meurer are completely false. There is no truth to them, and they should be treated as such,” he stated.

Clarifying the status of their union, Churchill said there was neither a church wedding nor a court wedding between himself and Meurer, noting that only an introduction ceremony took place.

“There was no legally recognized marriage. There was no church wedding and no court wedding. What took place was an introduction. Therefore, the idea of a ‘divorce’ is baseless from the outset,” he added.

The businessman also questioned the authenticity of documents allegedly circulating online in relation to the purported separation, stressing that he was never formally served any legal notice.

According to him, “any legitimate legal process requires that all parties be formally served and given the opportunity to respond,” adding, “I was never served. So I ask a simple question: what exactly is being presented to the public, and how was it obtained?”

Churchill further alleged that the situation was being worsened by individuals offering Rosy Meurer poor media and legal counsel.

“I am 100% sure that individuals without proper experience in the media space are advising Rosy incorrectly, alongside legal practitioners who operate under a mango tree without due process and claim to produce divorce documents within 24 hours,” he said.

Addressing insinuations that the controversy may be connected to his recent public reconciliation with his ex-wife, Tonto Dikeh, Churchill said the issues that existed between him and the mother of his child were personal and theirs alone to settle.

“Tonto wronged me, and whatever existed between us was ours to resolve. No one confronted her or fought that battle on my behalf,” he said.

He maintained that his responsibilities towards his child and co-parenting arrangements should not be interpreted as interference in any present relationship.

“At times, it is necessary to allow a man to handle his responsibilities without interference, most especially when you were carried along. That is part of his role and duty,” Churchill wrote.

Speaking further, the businessman dismissed the public narrative that Rosy Meurer made extraordinary sacrifices by standing beside him during his fallout with Tonto, insisting that such claims were being overstated.

“I do not agree with the narrative that Rosy ‘stood by me’ in a way that should now be exaggerated. While I acknowledge that she faced public criticism, it is important to state that if she had not been there, someone else would have occupied that position in my life,” he said.

Churchill added that issues arising within his relationship should have been left for him to handle personally, including moments when public defence became necessary.

“Issues within my relationship should have been left for me to address, including defending her publicly when necessary,” he added.

He also noted that entering a relationship with a man who already has a child and lingering issues with the child’s mother requires understanding and maturity.

"Entering a relationship with a man who already has a child and existing issues with the child’s mother requires understanding that such matters are between the two parties involved,” he stated.

Churchill concluded by revealing that both he and Tonto Dikeh have chosen to move on from their past grievances.

“If Tonto offended anyone, it should be me alone, and if I offended anyone, it should be Tonto. However, we have both chosen to forgive each other. I believe she has changed and is now in a better place,” he said.

Churchill’s comments come amid intense online speculation that Rosy Meurer had allegedly initiated divorce proceedings following recent social media tension involving the couple.

Rosy Meurer has yet to issue any public response to Churchill’s latest statement as of the time this report was filed.
