Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State have endorsed Yusuf Buhari, son of former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, as their preferred candidate for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat.
The decision was reached during a strategic meeting held at the Sandamu Local Government Secretariat, where party leaders, elected officials, and political appointees from across the constituency gathered to deliberate on the party’s direction ahead of future elections.
Speaking after the meeting, the council chairman, Usman Na Lado, described the endorsement as a unified resolution by party stakeholders aimed at strengthening the APC’s electoral prospects. He noted that Yusuf Buhari was chosen based on his perceived competence and growing acceptance within the party structure.
Na Lado also disclosed that the stakeholders used the occasion to reaffirm their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda as the party’s candidates for the 2027 presidential and governorship elections, respectively.
In addition, the gathering endorsed the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasiru Yahaya Daura, for the Daura Senatorial seat, describing the move as part of early political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party members were also urged to intensify grassroots mobilisation to consolidate support.
However, sources within the party hinted that Yusuf Buhari’s endorsement may have been influenced by the state governor, alleging that he is the preferred candidate of the current administration.
