Anthony Okon Placid psc(+), mni (December 2, 1970) was born in Uyo and hails from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom LGA of Akwa Ibom State. He joined the Nigeria Police Academy in 1996 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was enlisted into the Force on 15th of August 1998. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo, a Masters degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos and a Bachelor of Laws from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

DCP Okon has undergone extensive local and international training, including the United Nat

ions Peace Operations Specialized Training (POST), with certifications in Police and Military Studies, Gender Awareness, International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights and Civilian Protection. He is also a graduate of the Senior Executive Course (SEC 47) of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, and was inducted as a Member of the National Institute (mni) on December 13, 2025.

DCP Okon is regarded as a highly experienced senior officer with a broad professional background spanning administration, operations, intelligence, training and international peacekeeping assignments.

His policing career covers roles as Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State and at the Police Staff College, Jos; Divisional Police Officer in Federal Housing Calabar, Bakassi, Uruan and Gembu and as well as Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Robbery Unit in Kaduna State. He was promoted Assistant Commissioner of Police 01st October 2018 and deployed to the Yobe State Special Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department on 3rd May 2019; he also has been deployed as ACP Operations in Akwa Ibom and Kogi State Police Commands; ACP Intelligence Abia State; and African Union Election Security Adviser.

He was promoted Deputy Commissioner of Police on 7th June 2024 and deployed to the Finance & Administration Department Zone 3, Yola before his latest posting to same Department in Cross River in January 2026. He is married with children and enjoys sports, music and social engagements.
