Nigerian Among Two Arrested In Kenya For Drug Trafficking

Two suspected drug traffickers arrested in Ruaka.

Okeke Ikechukwu, a Nigerian national and Alex Opondo, a Kenyan national were nabbed during a search at a house within Mbuti Apartment.

The duo Okeke Ikechukwu, a Nigerian national and Alex Opondo, a Kenyan national were trailed by detective officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), in collaboration with officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) on Sunday.

“Acting on credible intelligence that suspects were planning a narcotics exchange in Syokimau, Machakos County, the team responded swiftly. However, upon arrival, it was established that the planned meeting had been aborted,” DCI revealed.

Following this development, the detectives redirected their operation to Ruaka, Kiambu County where the suspects were nabbed during a search at a house within Mbuti Apartment in Ruaka.

The operation also led to the recovery of several exhibits including pellets and packages of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs, digital weighing scales, mobile phones, foreign passports, and cash in both Kenyan and Nigerian currencies.

The suspects who are currently in custody at Ruaraka and Pangani Police Stations are expected to be arraigned in court today as investigations continue to trace additional suspects.
