An Iranian missile struck an industrial facility in Neot Hovav, a major industrial zone in southern Israel known for its concentration of chemical plants, triggering a hazardous materials incident and prompting emergency measures, authorities said.
Fire and thick black smoke were seen rising from the site following the impact. Emergency medical teams reported that one person was lightly wounded by the blast. No additional casualties were immediately confirmed.
According to Israeli fire and rescue services, hazardous materials leaked from the facility after the strike. Specialized firefighting units and monitoring teams from the southern district, including crews from Beersheba, were dispatched to assess the danger and measure the concentration of chemicals in the affected area.
Three dedicated hazardous materials teams were deployed to the scene. Crews are working directly at the source of the leaks to contain the situation and seal damaged tanks, while conducting continuous monitoring.
As a precaution, workers at the facility and nearby plants were instructed to evacuate exposed areas and remain inside protected structures until the incident is brought under control. Authorities said monitoring operations will continue until any risk to the public and environment is ruled out.
In parallel to the strike in the south, an additional Iranian missile was launched toward central Israel minutes later, landing in an open area near Ramallah in the West Bank. No injuries were reported in that incident.
At the same time, rockets were fired from Lebanon toward northern Israeli cities including Safed and Tiberias.
