Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic Abuja Gets ₦2bn Take-Off Grant

The federal government has approved N2 billion each for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic, Abuja, and the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe, Lagos State. The grants are to help the schools start operations.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this known on Thursday while inaugurating the new leaders of the institutions.

Prof. Nosiru Onibon was appointed Rector of the Tinubu Polytechnic, while Prof. Adeola Oshikoya becomes Vice-Chancellor of the Epe university. Dr. Angela Ajala also assumed office as executive secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education.

Alausa said the new institutions aim to expand access to education and strengthen Nigeria’s ability in science, technology, and innovation.

“Every child in this country deserves access to quality education. You have been chosen to serve your country, and much is expected from you,” he said.

The minister added that the grants would help the schools set up basic administrative and academic structures.

He urged the new officials to provide strong leadership to shape the schools’ future.

He also said the locations of the schools were chosen to make the best use of regional economic and human resources.

The institutions are expected to focus on areas such as renewable energy, climate change, disaster management, and other fields important to national development.
