US. President Donald Trump has said that thousands of Christians are being kidnapped and killed in Nigeria by terrorists, describing the violence as widespread and deeply troubling.
Trump made the remarks at the Board of Peace signing ceremony held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, as he draws attention to persistent attacks on Christian communities across parts of the Nigeria.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Trump said terrorists operating in Nigeria have carried out mass killings and abductions of Christians, questioning why the situation has not triggered stronger global outrage.
“They’ve killed thousands and thousands of Christians. What’s that all about?” he asked, framing the violence as a major humanitarian and security issue.
Trump also said terrorists responsible for the attacks are facing heavy military pressure.
According to him, armed groups targeting Christians have been “hit very hard” and would face further forceful action, signalling continued efforts to weaken and dismantle terror networks involved in the violence.
His comments come amid continued reports of deadly attacks and mass abductions in northern Nigeria, including Kaduna State, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted Christian communities, churches, and rural settlements.
Nigeria has for years struggled with insurgency, banditry, and terror-related violence, with thousands killed and many more displaced, as religious communities remain among the most affected.
