Lagos Great House Fire Update: Bodies Recovered In Balogun Market Fire

Breaking Update: Bodies Recovered as Fire Rages at Great Nigeria Insurance House, Balogun Market, Lagos

More developments have emerged from the ongoing fire outbreak at the Great Nigeria Insurance House, a 22-storey commercial building located in Balogun Market, Lagos Island.

According to eyewitness reports, at least 15 bodies were recovered from the building earlier today, while many others are still believed to be trapped inside. The fire was reported to be still burning as emergency responders continued rescue and recovery operations.

In one of the videos circulating online, bodies were seen being evacuated from the building in body bags, highlighting the severity of the incident.

Additionally, a woman who recorded a video from the scene pleaded with the Lagos State Government to urgently intervene, saying that many people remain outside the building, anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones who are still trapped inside. The woman alleged that rescue teams had stopped working in the area where people are believed to be trapped and were instead focusing on sections of the building where no victims are reportedly inside.

She further explained that she is still waiting for her loved one at the scene and has been unable to go home due to the uncertainty surrounding the rescue efforts.

Another eyewitness also raised concerns over what was described as a slow response, calling for faster and more focused rescue operations to reach those still trapped.

As of now, official casualty figures have not been fully confirmed, while emergency agencies remain on ground and the situation continues to unfold.
