2027 BATTLE LINES DRAWN AS EGBA AGENDA FORUM SENDS STRONG SIGNAL TO OGUN STATE POLITICAL PARTIES.

The political atmosphere in Ogun State has been decisively charged as the Egba Agenda Forum (EAF) delivers a bold, unmistakable message ahead of the 2027 governorship race. In a move that has sent ripples across party lines, the Forum declared that Egbas will only support any political party that fields a confirmed, traceable Egba son as its governorship candidate.

This powerful declaration was made publicly during the Egba Agenda Forum Symposium, aptly themed “The Political Psychology of Ogun State and the Imperative for an Egba as Governor of Ogun State in 2027.” The high-level event held at the historic Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, on December 17, 2025, drew stakeholders, political leaders and grassroots supporters from across the state.

Speakers and participants at the symposium left no room for ambiguity and the Egba people are no longer willing to play peripheral roles in Ogun State politics. The consensus from the hall was loud and clear that 2027 must produce not just an Egba governor, but a competent, credible and verifiably Egba son capable of steering Ogun State toward sustainable development.

The gathering reflected a growing political consciousness among the masses, many of whom emphasized that ethnic sentiment alone is not enough. Competence, character and capacity must align with Egba identity. The Forum stressed that political parties ignoring this signal do so at their own peril.

Adding weight to the occasion was the presence of notable dignitaries and political figures, including Hon. Dapo Adeyemi, Chief Mustapha Abdulhakeem Owolabi, Hon. Arabanbi, Chief Olusegun Alawode, Chief Ogunaike, Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe and Chief Segun Sowunmi, among others. Their attendance underscored the seriousness of the conversation and the growing momentum behind the Egba governorship push.

As 2027 draws closer, one thing is now certain, which is that the Egba Agenda Forum has drawn the battle lines and Ogun State political parties have been officially put on notice. The road to Oke Mosan may very well pass through Ake and it must carry an Egba son.
