Lekan Lasisi was detained by the Ogun State Police Command after he fatally shot his stepbrother after a dispute over an N4,000 debt.
On December 19, the tragedy happened at Abule Tuntun, Odeda Local Government Area.
Lasisi and his brother got into a fight over the deceased's persistent nonpayment of obligations.
In an interrogation video posted online on December 29, 2025, Lasisi was shown expressing his frustration at his stepbrother's creditors' persistent demands for payment.
When the dead allegedly attacked Lasisi with a cutlass, the debate descended into violence.
Lasisi retorted that although he reached for a gun, he had no intention of firing.
He said that his stepbrother was killed when the revolver unintentionally fired and struck him.
Lasisi claimed in the video that his brother had taken some things to the market on the day of the event.
One of the brother's creditors contacted him as he was making his way to the bus stop to let him know that the deceased had not settled his due.
He addressed his brother about the recurring indebtedness and how embarrassing it was for the family when he got back from the market.
"I pulled out my rifle when he took a cutlass," Lasisi remarked.
I am a hunter. He is fond of drinking and exhibiting different attitudes that can cause trouble,” Lasisi explained.
"On the day of the incident, he took garri to the market, and we met at the expressway where we often board a vehicle. I met a woman who claimed that my brother owed her again. The money was N4,000.
"When my brother came back, I challenged him on why he would be owing debt and causing us shame. He got angry and started making trouble. He was the one who first brought out a cutlass, and I brought out a gun, but it accidentally discharged and hit him. I do not intend to kill him.”
