The Kebbi State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough as operatives of the No. 36 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Birnin Kebbi, successfully repelled a bandit attack in Zodi village, Zuru Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the armed bandits stormed the community on Saturday in large numbers and rustled an unspecified number of livestock.
The police team responded swiftly after receiving distress reports, engaging the attackers in heavy gunfire. The exchange forced the bandits to flee into the forest with multiple casualties, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
A subsequent search of the surrounding forest led to the recovery of two motorcycles, ninety-six cows, and forty-five sheep, all abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
The recovered livestock were handed over to the village head of Zodi for safe return to their rightful owners. Meanwhile, the seized motorcycles were transferred to the Divisional Police Officer in Zuru for further investigation aimed at identifying and arresting the culprits.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the gallantry of the PMF personnel and urged them to maintain the momentum in safeguarding the lives and property of residents across Kebbi State.
