Earlier today, a trailer truck traveling along ABU Road in Zaria accidentally spilled a sack of bullets, seemingly without the driver’s knowledge. The incident occurred opposite Everyday Restaurant in Dogon Ice, Samaru, quickly drawing the attention of residents and passersby.
Several locals were seen trying to gather the scattered bullets as the main road became littered with ammunition.
While the bullets themselves may not pose an immediate explosive threat, the incident has raised serious security concerns. In a country and region already affected by terrorism, kidnappings, and banditry, pressing questions remain: Who was transporting the bullets? Are they licensed to carry such ammunition? Where were they headed?
The possibility that the bullets could fall into the wrong hands—potentially criminals or bandits—is alarming. Such incidents highlight gaps in monitoring the transport of ammunition, especially in northern Nigeria, where security risks are high.
As of now, neither the Nigerian Police nor the Army has issued an official statement regarding the incident or any ongoing investigation. Residents are advised to remain vigilant while traveling in the area until authorities clarify the situation and ensure the bullets are safely recovered.
