Security Aides Fight At PDP Secretariat (

A serious fight broke out at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday after aides of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde tried to escort them into the building.

Security officers already stationed at the entrance refused to let the governors in. Their aides and loyal supporters pushed back, forcing their way forward. This quickly led to a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight between both security groups.

In the middle of the chaos, police fired tear gas to scatter the clashing teams and restore order.

Amid the confusion, Governor Mohammed’s security detail formed a tight protective circle around him and successfully led him into the secretariat.

Why the Fight Happened:

The clash is tied to the ongoing power struggle within the PDP, which is currently divided into two strong factions.

One faction, supported by Governors Makinde and Mohammed, recently held a national convention where they elected new party leaders. This new leadership is now trying to take control of the party secretariat.

The other faction, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, rejects the outcome of that convention and is also trying to control the party’s offices.

Current Situation:

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike later arrived at the headquarters, but by the time he got there, his faction had reportedly been pushed out of the premises by the governors’ group.

Tensions remain high at the secretariat as both sides continue to insist they are the legitimate leaders of the PDP.
