Police CSP Defied Sanwo-Olu’s Order, Claimed AGF, IGP Sent Him

Throwback Video: Sanwo-Olu Negotiates with Police CSP During Magodo Estate Dispute

Nigerians have recently resurfaced an old video showing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in discussions with a police CSP during the Magodo Estate land dispute.

The video, dating back to 2022, captures Governor Sanwo-Olu calmly negotiating with the officer, demonstrating patience and respect, even as the CSP initially refused to vacate the area, citing “superior orders.” Sanwo-Olu’s composed approach in the face of tension highlights a measured and diplomatic leadership style.

This throwback has drawn attention following the recent altercation on November 11, 2025, involving FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and a soldier during a land dispute in Gaduwa, Abuja. In contrast to Sanwo-Olu’s calm demeanor, Wike was seen angrily questioning the soldier, asking if he was “foolish,” which triggered a sharp response from the officer: “Sir, you can’t shut me up. I am an officer, and I have integrity!” The confrontation escalated into a brief physical scuffle and sparked widespread criticism, with calls from military veterans for Wike to apologize.

The viral thread comparing the two incidents has garnered over 300,000 views and ignited discussions about leadership styles and respect for security personnel in Nigeria. Most viewers praised Sanwo-Olu’s diplomacy and professionalism, while many condemned Wike’s aggressive conduct as unprofessional and counterproductive.

The comparison underscores how leaders’ approaches in high-pressure situations can influence public perception and the importance of balancing authority with respect when interacting with security forces.
