45-year-old Nigerian Caught With Heroin At Liberia–ivory Coast Border

 LDEA Nabs 45-Year-Old Nigerian for Drug Trafficking at Bawaydee Border, Grand Gedeh County

Monrovia, Liberia -November 12,2025


Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Grand Gedeh County Detachment assigned at the Bawaydee border have arrested a 45-year-old Nigerian national identified as Obina Echezona, resident of Mali for possession of heroin


The arrest occurred at approximately 1:00 PM during a routine search operation while en route from Liberia to the Ivory Coast with 386.1 grams of heroin concealed under his underpants


The confiscated substance has an estimated street value of LRD 3,127,410 and its equivalent in USD USD17,374.5


Suspect Echezona is currently undergoing further investigation and will be forwarded to the court for prosecution on charges of illegal possession of narcotics, a non-bailable offense under Liberia’s amended drug law.
