PM News has issued a public apology to former Ogun State governor and serving senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, over what it described as a false and misleading publication regarding his alleged suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter dated September 3, 2025, and addressed to Daniel through his legal counsel, Prof. Yemi Oke, SAN, the media organisation admitted that its August 24, 2025 online story titled “Why APC suspended Gbenga Daniel” was baseless and untrue.
The management explained that after further review, it realised the reasons it had advanced for Daniel’s alleged suspension from the ruling party were unfounded. It consequently pulled down the story from its platform.
“We can assure you that no malice was intended,” the letter, signed by the PM News Editor on behalf of the management, read in part. “We regret any embarrassment the said publication may have caused you and do tender our unreserved apology.”
PM News stressed that the controversial report had been published in error and reaffirmed its commitment to ethical journalism.
The apology is coming at a time when media credibility and accountability remain under scrutiny in Nigeria, especially in political reportage where misinformation can damage reputations and stir unnecessary controversy.
Daniel, who governed Ogun State between 2003 and 2011, is widely regarded as one of the influential voices in the South-West APC bloc.
