FG launches digital expatriate residence permit portal

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a digital platform for the application and processing of the Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Alien Card (CERPAC), marking a significant step in the ongoing modernisation of the country’s immigration procedures.

In a statement released on Wednesday, July 16, and signed by the NIS Public Relations

Officer, ACI Kenneth Kure Akinlabi, the agency confirmed that the new portal is now live, enabling individuals and organisations to electronically complete and submit applications for expatriate permits.

The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to enhance transparency, improve operational efficiency, and deliver a more streamlined user experience in public service delivery.

With the launch of the platform, the NIS has announced a firm deadline for transitioning to the digital system. Effective August 1, 2025, all CERPAC applications must be submitted through the new online portal, as the service will no longer accept manual submissions.
