sident Bola Tinubu has asked Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, to take decisive action regarding the recent killing of travellers by a mob in Mangun district of Mangu LGA, Plateau state.
On Friday, 12 people were killed after a mob set upon a bus packed with wedding guests who were travelling from Zaria, Kaduna, to Quan Pan LGA in Plateau for the ceremony.
Eleven other wedding guests suffered various degrees of injuries from the attack.
Condemning the incident in a press statement on Sunday, Tinubu, through Bayo Onanuga, his special adviser on information and strategy, said the state governor must take action and get to the root of the issue. "The government of Plateau state must take decisive action in handling these vicious cycles of violence,” Tinubu said.
“The state government must work with security agents to get to the root of this recent incident and use it as a deterrent against future occurrences. Freedom of movement by all citizens is non-negotiable. We will not tolerate any attempt by anyone or group of people to curtail that fundamental freedom through acts of extreme violence and fear.”
The president also directed the Nigerian police force (NPF) to work with other security and intelligence agencies to ensure those responsible for the attack are held accountable.
“The president called for calm, promising not to allow the dastardly act to go unpunished,” the statement added. The president commiserates with the victims’ families and the people and government of Kaduna state.”

"Mutfwang Must Take Charge" - Uba Sani Fumes over Killing of Kaduna Residents in Plateau State.
Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has condemned the killing of the state’s residents by a mob in Mangun District of Mangu LGA, Plateau state.
On Friday, 12 people were killed after a mob set upon a commercial bus packed with wedding guests who were travelling from Zaria, Kaduna, to Quan Pan LGA in Plateau for the ceremony. Eleven other wedding guests suffered various degrees of injuries from the attack.
Reacting to the incident, the governor described the killing as an “act of savagery”. He called on security agencies to investigate the murders, adding that “this madness must stop”.
“We must put a stop to the nefarious activities of non-state actors. There is no justification for anybody to attack any citizen of Nigeria in any part of the country. This madness must stop. Enough is enough,” the governor said.
Sani also urged Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, to “use this unfortunate incident to make a bold statement. He must take full charge of the situation and direct the operations of the security agencies until the murderers are brought to justice,” the Kaduna governor said.
“I will personally follow up on the progress made in the investigations and field operations in search of the criminals. We must send a clear signal that impunity will no longer be tolerated.” Sani advised Kaduna residents to remain calm, adding that “all our murdered citizens will get justice”.
