President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security chiefs to immediately implement decisive measures aimed at restoring peace in Benue State following the k!llings of dozens of residents over the weekend

According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the president issued a fresh directive to security agencies after renewed violence and reprisal attacks left many dead in Yelwata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area.
Tinubu condemned the killings in the strongest terms, calling them “inhuman and depressing,” and said he was deeply troubled by the bloodshed.
“I have directed security agencies to ensure that the killers are fished out and brought to justice. The violence must stop,” Tinubu said, according to the statement.
“We cannot continue to witness these senseless killings and destruction of communities. It is inhuman and depressing. Enough is enough.”
The president stressed that the protection of lives and property is a fundamental responsibility of government and vowed that those responsible for the carnage would not go unpunished.
Acting on Tinubu’s orders, military and police personnel have already been deployed to the affected areas. Intelligence and surveillance operations have been intensified in Makurdi, the state capital, and surrounding communities.
