Robert Francis Prevost Is New Pope

As announced from the balcony of St. Peter's by the Prefect of the Apostolic Signature, Cardinal Dominique Mamberti, a 73-year-old Frenchman born in Morocco.

Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum: Habemus papam: Eminentissimum ac reverendissimum Dominum, Dominium Robertum Francescum, Sanctae Romanae Ecclesiae Cardinalem Prevost, qui sibi nomen imposuit Leo XIV.

He is the 267th Pope and the first American to be so named. He is to be known as Pope Leo XIV. He is a member of the Order of St Augustine.
