Chelsea have officially completed the signing of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in a deal worth £30 million
The 22-year-old forward, who impressed with 12 Premier League goals last season, joins the Blues after activating a relegation release clause in his contract. Delap chose Chelsea ahead of interest from Manchester United, Newcastle, and Everton. Delap’s arrival adds depth to Chelsea’s attacking lineup ahead of a busy season that includes the Club World Cup in the United States starting in June.
A key factor in his decision was the opportunity to reunite with new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, under whom he previously played at Manchester City. Chelsea’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League also played a major role in sealing the move.
