Rigathi Gachagua: Kenya Is The Only Country With Drug Barons In Presidency

Kenya’s President William Ruto has been accused of having ties with powerful drug barons in the country.

Mr Ruto’s estranged ally, impeached Vice-President Rigathi Gachagua, on Sunday, alleged that the Kenyan president was running the country with the help of drug barons.

Mr Gachagua, who was impeached last October, accused Mr Ruto of appointing “two drug barons” into his cabinet after he was ousted.

“When I left the government, Ruto brought two drug barons into his cabinet as cabinet secretaries,” Mr Gachagua claimed during a church service in Ol Jorook, Nyandarua County.

He added, “How do you expect the fight against drugs to be won? It cannot. Our youth are left in God’s protection.”

Mr Gachagua dismissed Mr Ruto’s government’s fight against drugs.

“I knew very well the government was not interested in the fight. Now, Kenya is the only country in the world where drug barons selling drugs sit in the cabinet,” Mr Gachagua alleged. “Parliament has been captured by the Executive, so the church, speak loudly. If not, Kenya is gone.”

The Kenyan government did not immediately respond to a request for comments on Monday.
