American rapper Kendrick Lamar has achieved a significant milestone as Billboard names him the Greatest Pop Star of 2024
Lamar’s impressive year on the Billboard Hot 100 was fueled by his high-profile hip-hop feud with Canadian rapper Drake. During the feud, he released multiple charting hits, including the number one single Not Like Us.
This recognition makes Lamar the first rapper to earn the title of Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of the Year since Drake in 2018.
In other Billboard news, Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You has tied Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road and Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) as the longest-running number one songs in Billboard Hot 100 history, each spending 17 weeks at the top.
Notably, all three record-setting tracks are by Black lead artists.
