Meghan Markle, 43, has opened up about a meaningful Thanksgiving gathering at her Montecito, California home, revealing that she invited longtime friend and feminist icon Gloria Steinem, 90, to join her family’s holiday celebration.
In an interview with Marie Claire, the Duchess of Sussex encouraged Americans to welcome those who might not have family to celebrate with, reflecting on her own experience.

She shared that her husband Prince Harry, 40, and their children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, hosted Steinem for the holiday in 2023.
“I was thinking about, in the past few years of having Thanksgiving here, like many of us, I think you always make sure there’s room at the table for your friends who don’t have family, which is really key,” Meghan explained.

The duchess described their holiday celebrations as “always pretty low-key” and candidly discussed feeling lonely during her time in the Royal Family.

She urged Americans to “open their arms” to new people during the holiday season, demonstrating this approach through her own actions of including Steinem in her family’s intimate gathering.
