Popular comedienne Tomama has spoken out against people who use philanthropy as a way to cover up their wrongdoings.
In an Instagram post, she highlighted how giving gifts is one of the easiest ways to win over Nigerians, noting that many do charitable acts publicly to shape their image.
Tomama explained that it becomes difficult for people to criticize anyone who is known for public acts of charity, no matter their actions.
She added that, in her view, any philanthropic deed involving a camera likely has a hidden agenda.
Her words read: “You see Nigerians eh, to deceive them & gain their love just pretend to be a Help the poor, do back to back giveaway, help clear some hospital bill, & don’t forget to publicize it while at it. They never forget to though. And Boom… you’re loved and you can do no wrong in the poor masses eyes, even if you k’ somebody them go defend you. Ps: To me, any good when camera don involve gete own agenda.”
