Rapper Vic Mensa claims his girlfriend was placed in danger after he was sued for unpaid rent by landlord

Ghanaian-born American rapper, Vic Mensa has been sued by his landlord over unpaid rent.

A lawyer, George Georgopoulos filed the suit on behalf of the property owner and claims while Vic was highlighting a flashy lifestyle on social media, photos of fancy watches and sports cars, even though he's yet to pay his rent.

It was noted that Mensa owes $8,340 in rent and late fees. According to George, the property owner “is left holding the bag of paying real estate taxes, maintenance, and other costs for the building while Vic Mensa continues to use and occupy the space without paying rent.”

Reacting to the lawsuit, Vic Mensa's rep told TMZ that the landlord actually "put the lives of Vic Mensa's family in danger, particularly his girlfriend." He noted that in March, police officers revealed that someone broke into the place when the rapper's girlfriend was home alone.

Police records confirmed a man was arrested and charged for breaking into the apartment and court records showed that the suspect has also been previously arrested multiple times for battery, and for violating the sex offender registry.

The rapper accused the landlord of failing to take adequate security measures around the building despite numerous requests. Mensa said he moved out immediately after that incident and stopped paying rent because he no longer lived there.

The property owner's attorney is pushing back, claiming security was increased after the break-in and the back rent is overdue.
