Can this £475m Man United Line-up Lead Erik Ten Hag To EPL Success? -

EXPENSIVE The £475m Manchester United line-up for Erik ten Hag to target Premier League success as Antony joins Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez – with Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench.

Erik ten Hag has been backed with more than £225million worth of signings as Manchester United manager… now the pressure is on.

The Premier League side have spent just shy of a quarter of a billion to give the Dutchman five new first-team players.

United confirmed the signing of Ajax winger Antony in a £84.8m deal, the second most expensive in the club’s history.

Only the £89m they paid Juventus for Paul Pogba in 2016 eclipses the money they are paying for him to reunite with Ten Hag.

It is the second time this summer he has raided his old club with Lisandro Martinez also joining from Ajax, meaning the Red Devils have agreed to pay the Dutch club £141.5m this summer.

The midfield has always been a key for Manchester United this summer and their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong dragged on for several weeks, with little progress made.

They instead turned to Casemiro and paid Real Madrid a £70m fee for the 30-year-old multiple Champions League winner.

Tyrell Malacia looks like he may be the best deal of the summer for the Red Devils, though, as he has looked assured at left-back and cost just £13m

Manchester United first XI value

Anthony Martial – £58m
Jadon Sancho – £72.6m
Bruno Fernandes – £47m
Antony – £84.8m
Christian Eriksen –
FreeCasemiro – £70m
Tyrell Malacia – £13m
Raphael Varane – £34.2m
Lisandro Martinez – £56.7m
Diogo Dalot – £19m
David de Gea – £18.9m
Total: £474.2m

They also signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer, while Martin Dubravka looks set to add depth in the goalkeeping department with a loan from Newcastle.

Much of the talk at Old Trafford this summer has been about who may leave the club, not just who they intended to sign.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains at United, even though he has made clear his desire to leave in order to play in the Champions League.

So far, he has been relegated to the bench and will not be content just to get a few minutes here and there.

Also having to be content with being a substitute is Harry Maguire, who has lost his place to Raphael Varane and Martinez. He will stay and fight for his place though.

Ten Hag’s likely favoured starting line-up will eventually be worth in the region of £475m, with hundreds more millions left on the bench.

Now the Dutchman has his targets, the pressure will be on to start delivering on the pitch with trophies and a push for the Premier League.

Is this XI good enough to topple Man City?
