The America's Got Talent judge who is the process of divorcing Stephen Belafonte ended the romance after finding out the officer was still very much with his wife, according to a Wednesday report from InTouch Weekly.
'Mel isn't a homewrecker and feels absolutely awful that she played a role in him cheating on his wife,' the source explained.
The star made the decision before she was seen kissing a mystery man at the MTV VMAs on Sunday.
The star and the cop allegedly started dating in May. The former Spice Girl believed the law enforcement official was very unhappy with his wife and was going to separate from her even before their meeting three months ago.
But she has since learned that was not the case and she was not thrilled with coming between a man and his wife.
