Former Borussia Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp has turned down the opportunity to take over the Mexico national team, according to the head of the country’s football association.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has been closely connected to Liverpool job with Brendan Rodgers under growing pressure at Anfield.

Guillermo Cantu, secretary general of the Mexican Football Federation, confirmed they had approached the 48-year-old to take over from interim manager Ricardo Feretti but that his desire for a break kept him from taking over El Tri.
“We spoke to his representative, but he said he is on a sabbatical and it would not be possible now,” he told Marcaje Personal.
Klopp confirmed last month that he would be willing to consider taking a step down from Europe’s elite for the right “project”.
“I don’t know where I’ll be heading to but right now, that’s not important for me,” he added.
