American Pharoah owner under fire

Ahmed Zayat might not win the Triple Crown with his horse American Pharoah next Saturday, but he is already a champion at spinning tall tales.
The New Jersey resident, who gambles about $200,000 a week on horse races, claimed in a 2014 deposition that he went to Harvard even though The (Bergen) Record reported in 2013 it was a lie.

“This guy is completely full of spit,” said one friend of a Zayat creditor.
Under questioning in a federal lawsuit over gambling debts, Zayat also claimed he consulted with the presidents of the US and his native Egypt, that he once raised $1 billion in seven days, and that he came up with the idea for Heineken Light.
Not impressed? Zayat also came up with a much better mea culpa than Richard Nixon’s “I am not a crook.”
“I am not saying I am a saint. I am not saying that mistakes have not happened, errors of judgment,” Zayat told The Record. “Sometimes, as smart as I am, I am naive.
