Uefa Champions League trophy
Borrusia Dortumund and Arsenal lock horns in Group
D, alongside Anderlecht and Galatasary. The Gunners recently confirmed
progression to the group stages of the tournament by beating Besiktas by
a lone goal margin.
Arsenal’s club secretary David Miles is anticipating the familiar clash with Dortmund. He said “ We know Borrusia Dortmund well ofcourse, and we are looking forward to it and hopefully can progress through this group- With the pre-requisite being aim to finish top of the group.
Manuel Pellegrini was ostensibly not expecting to be drawn again alongside five-time champions Bayern Munich and Cska Moscow and in Group E. They also face a tricky fixture in Roma.
Thomas Muller who scored when he faced Manchester City last October said:
‘’We know most of our opponents from last year and its going to be a challenging group. Roma in pot four are surely in a different class to Viktoria Plzen last year. It’s not going to be a walk in the park, but we are optimistic to get through.”
ManCity’s director of football Txiki Begiristain believes it’s an arduous task to progress from a UCL group no matter what team in it. He said: “Lat season Bayern Munich were first. We were second and we also played CSKA Moscow, but the fourth one now is very tough- A very strong team in Roma.”
Chelsea battle Schalke 04, Maribor and Sporting CP in group G.
