Gareth Bale has reportedly agreed personal terms with Real Madrid, leading to speculation the world could finally see an end to the protracted transfer saga.

Bale’s lawyers met Real Madrid representatives on Friday to thrash out personal terms for the player.
The 24-year-old star is expected to be unveiled on Monday as a Blancos player in the Spanish capital, for deal worth £86m – a world-record fee.

The transfer has been ongoing since May but with Tottenham Hotspur initially unwilling to sell and then failing to agree a price for the player, the deal has dragged on for four months.

Real Madrid, in anticipation of Bale signing, erected a stage to present Bale to the world’s media at the start of the week but club president Florentino PĂ©rez has been made to wait to unveil his latest star signing.

It is not yet known when Bale will make his debut for Carlo Ancelotti’s side because the Welsh wizard’s pre-season was blighted by niggling ankle and foot injuries and is lacking match fitness.
Bale is not expected overcome those injuries for at least another two weeks.

The White Hart Lane side have signed Erik Lamela as a replacement for Bale for a club record fee of £25.7m from AS Roma, while Christian Eriksen’s arrival was announced on Friday night.

It is the third time this summer that the club has broken its club record fee after buying Paulinho (£17m) and Roberto Soldado (£26m), respectively, and sped the Bale deal up.

The winger played 136 Premier League games for Spurs, scoring 42 times, after joining from Southampton in 2007.
