No more deals! Mourinho says Chelsea DON'T need to recruit before deadline day

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said his side does not need strengthening before the end of this summer's transfer window.

Mourinho, speaking after his side lost 5-4 on penalties to Bayern Munich in the Super Cup final after a 2-2 draw, believes the squad is strong enough as it is.

Chelsea have also been linked with Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney but when asked if he plans on strengthening his squad before the transfer deadline day on Monday, Mourinho replied: 'No, I don't think so.'

Mourinho's side may have made their last signing of the summer with Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o on Thursday, who signed on a one-year deal worth £7million.

Speculation surrounding Rooney has died down since Monday's 0-0 draw between United and Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The England striker's impressive performance reinforced David Moyes' claims that Rooney will be staying at the club this summer, and the standing ovation from the Old Trafford crowd prompted Rooney to thank the club's fans on his Facebook page.
