Widely respected for his strategic depth, disciplined execution, and governance expertise, he has played defining roles in some of the most significant corporate transactions and turnarounds in Nigeria’s modern economic history, consistently delivering long-term value for institutions and
shareholders.
He is the Founder and Chairman of Atiat Limited, an evolving financial services platform with interests across leasing, consumer credit, insurance, and mobility solutions. He is also Co-Founder and Chairman of LoanBook Limited, a fast-growing consumer credit company with operations across multiple states in Nigeria.

Obinna is perhaps best known for his tenure as President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp Plc), where he led a decisive corporate turnaround that repositioned the group as one of Nigeria’s most prominent conglomerates. Under his leadership, Transcorp delivered strong earnings growth, executed the landmark $300 million acquisition of the 972MW Ughelli Power Plant, and achieved a more than tenfold increase in market capitalisation—widely regarded as one of the most successful corporate transformations in Nigeria’s power and investment landscape.
Earlier in his career, he served as Founding Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Heirs Holdings, where he played a pivotal role in building a pan-African investment platform with significant influence across key sectors. At United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), he held senior leadership roles and was part of the core team that executed the historic UBA–Standard Trust Bank merger, one of the most consequential banking consolidations in Nigeria.
He began his professional career at FSB International Bank in 1995 and has since developed deep expertise in corporate governance, capital markets, investment structuring, and large-scale business transformation.
Beyond corporate leadership, Obinna is deeply committed to social impact and community development. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation, through which he has championed transformative initiatives in education, healthcare access, and community infrastructure in Nnobi, Anambra State. Notable projects include the development of the Ifite Community Water Scheme, an integrated solar-powered water system serving multiple access points across the community through a 3.5km underground pipeline, and the Sir Pius Ufudo Complex—a landmark facility comprising a nursery and primary school, a modern library with over 17,000 books, and a 400-seat multipurpose hall.
The Foundation supports St. Theresa’s Nursery & Primary School and Seat of Wisdom Comprehensive Secondary School, providing ongoing institutional support to enhance learning outcomes. It also funds the Nnobi Health Insurance Scheme, which covers over 500 indigenes annually, as well as flagship initiatives such as the annual Nnobi Secondary Schools Mathematics Quiz Competition and annual Free Computer Bootcamp for students and teachers. In addition, over 100 students benefit from the Foundation’s scholarship programme across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. His philanthropic philosophy is anchored on building enduring institutions that expand opportunity and uplift communities for generations.
