Referee Maurice Paarhuis Accidentally Scores In Dutch League, Awards Goal

A referee in the Dutch league got too close to the action this weekend as he scored a goal in a match, MySportDab reports.

The official was taking charge of Harkemase Boys' Derde Divisie clash against HSV Hoek when he found himself in space in the Harkemase box amid a goal-mouth scramble.

Hoek had just had an effort heroically scooped off the line by keeper Jouke Bosje before Rik Impens' rebound cannoned of the post and towards safety.

Referee Maurice Paarhuis had kept up with the play however, and could not help but turn the ball goalwards with his standing leg.

And, although Harkemase had a number of players back, the official put just enough on it for the ball to trickle agonisingly over the line.

Paarhuis then gave the goal, much to the dismay of the Dutch outfit, whose 3-0 lead had been cut to 3-2 in the closing stages of the match.
