Over 15 Gunmen Kidnap 78 Years Old Woman In Rivers State

A 78 years old woman, Mrs Mabel Abiante was kidnapped by over 15 well armed gunmen on Saturday, November 29, at her residence at Ngo, headquarters of Andoni local government of Rivers state.  

According to eyewitnesses, Mrs Abiante, wife to late Rev Dagomie Abiante, a popular cleric, was kidnapped at about 8.50pm while watching television in her sitting room. She had closed from her shop at about 8.30pm.

The gunmen were said to have shot sporadically and had positioned some of their men around the house while others moved into the sitting room where they whisked Mrs Abiante away.
The gun men also inflicted injuries on one of Mr. Abiante’s daughters who was at home when the kidnappers stormed their home. The used the b*tts of their gun on her head and right hand leaving her with swollen body.

The kidnappers were said to have escaped in a waiting speedboat through a side of the Ngo River close to the Abiante family house.
The whereabouts of the 78 years old woman remained unknown at the time of the report as the abductors were yet to make contacts with the family.
Sadly, the 78 years old Mrs Abiante has joined ignoble league of victims of heartless kidnappers who have turned Rivers state into an environment where kidnapping has suddenly turned a lucrative business.
Rivers Police command was yet to react to the kidnap at press time.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Male Under-23 team coach, Samson Siasia mother was released yesterday, November 28, after spending close to two weeks in a kidnappers’ den.
Madam Ogere Siasia, 72, was kidnapped from her house in Odoni village, Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa state, by armed men who stormed the family’s house in the early hours of November 16.
